At 8:05pm our free selection is on the Houston Astros over the St. Louis Cardinals. For those who thought that veteran righthander Roy Oswalt, who has spent all of his nine Major League seasons with the Astros, was washed up in the first half of this season, then think again. Over the past month, Oswalt has been one of the most consistent starters in the National League, if not the entire Majors and he shows no sign of letting up quite yet. Just how good has Oswalt been? In his last five starts, Oswalt is 3-0 with a 1.66 ERA and in four of those five starts, he has only surrendered one earned run, and he's only given up a total of six walks in the five starts covering a total of 38 innings. The only start of the five that wasn't stellar was two starts ago when Oswalt left after six innings against the Nats complaining of numbness in his throwing hand, but he came right back in his next (and latest) start to throw a masterful complete game four-hitter against the Dodgers (his second complete game in those five starts). This is not an easy assignment tonight against division rival St. Louis and another very good veteran in Chris Carpenter who, like Oswalt, is having a stellar season. But unlike the Houston ace, Carpenter has been very up-and-down lately, and while two of his last four starts have been like Oswalt's recent outings, the other two have been very sub-par. The Cards will no doubt monitor Carpenter very closely with has recent history of arm problems and will not hesitate to pull him if something is not right. This series has not been friendly to the visitors lately as the home team has won 11 of the last 13 meetings heading into tonight. Take the 'Stros. As always, good luck...Al McMordie.

RED-HOT Al McMordie is on an ABSOLUTE TEAR in Baseball's 2nd Half, as Big Al WON AGAIN on Tuesday, cashing with the Washington Nationals! Al's now a Sweet 7-1 after the Break, and has an AWESOME AFTERNOON WINNER for you in Baseball action today. Get on board, and get the $$$$.

Take the Detroit Tigers ML, This pick falls into one of my top MLB systems and we are getting great value tonight with the Tigers at home who are 4-0 in their last four home games against the Mariners. The Mariners are just 11-26 in their last 37 road games against a team with a winning record at home greater than .600 and the Tigers are 8-2 in their last 10 games against a right hand starter. Felix Hernandez (10-3, 2.51) has been lights out this season but Detroit has had a lot of success against him at Comerica Park in the past. The last time Hernandez made a trip to Detroit he allowed 10 hits and 6 earned runs over 5 innings and Detroit had 7 hits and 3 earned runs against Hernandez in Seattle earlier this season. Armando Galarraga (5-8, 5.09) has just 1 career start against the Mariners where he allowed 5 hits and just 1 earned run over 6 innings and I look for him to have a strong outing pitching with 10 days rest. The Tigers are 5-1 in Galarraga's last 6 home starts against a team with a winning record and they are a perfect 5-0 in their last 5 home games when the posted total is 7.0 to 8.5. Take the Detroit Tigers as my MLB Free Play for Wednesday night.

We scored with Detroit last night and I'll side with the Tigers again showing excellent value in the home underdog role. Detroit is one of the best home teams in baseball at 28-13 on the year and it has had Seattle's number. The Tigers are 8-2 at home against the M's over the last 3 seasons and, with last night's win, have won 4 straight at home in this series. The M's send their ace to the hill, but the Tigers have been swinging hot bats at home, scoring 5.6 runs per game while the M's are scoring just 4.0 runs per game on the road. The Mariners are just 11-26 in their last 37 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 while the Tigers are 8-2 in their last 10 home games vs. a right-handed starter, 10-3 in their last 13 vs. the American League West, and 5-1 in Galarraga's last 6 starts vs. a team with a winning record. I'll back the Tigers at home for a Unit tonight.

The Seattle Mariners look to bounce back after last night's loss to the Tigers with they send Felix Hernandex to the hill. Hernandez comes into this one with a 10-3 mark and very good 2.51 ERA. Hernandez has also been red hot lately going 6-0 with a 1.30 ERA in 10 starts since losing to the Los Angeles Angels on May 19. Hernandez, has also won four in a row over the Tigers to improve to 4-2 with a 3.22 lifetime ERA against them.

The Tigers will counter with Armando Galarraga who is 5-8 with a rather hight 5.09 ERA. Tonight will be his first start since the All-Star break.

Craig was 1-1 yesterday ending his 10 game win streak since the ALL STAR BREAK. But 11-1 is not bad at all and Craig will add to his great record today!! Don't miss CRAIG'S 5 star EARLY RISER WINNING PLAY. Today Craig his free play in another early game!

SD has shown us all that they just can't produce runs or wins for at least the last month. Even a struggling FLA has went into SD and won the first two games of this series. Today FLA goes to Nolasco who is coming of back to back disappointing performances but before those two he had won 5 starts in a row. Today he will throw strikes with confidence to a very weak lineup. If he can get ahead of hitters he will be very good today. On the other side SD turns to Geer who has been stuggling not winning a game since MAY. Thats over 10 starts without a win and in that stretch is allowing over 1 HR per game. SD does not pick up there starters with any timely hitting. SD looks like a team who has given up and this one will not be close!! SCORE FLA 7 - SD 2

The Seattle Mariners will look to even the series on Wednesday night at Comerica Park in Detroit, they lost to the host Tigers on Tuesday night by a score of 9 to 7. Seattle will send ace right-hander Felix Hernandez to the bump with his 10-3 W/L record and ERA of 2.51 which includes a record of 6-1 W/L when he starts away from home and he has an ERA of 1.97 in those games. Hernandez last outing he pitched 8 innings allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits and 8 strikeouts in a win at Cleveland by the final score of 6 to 2. Two previous starts one against Texas he allowed 1 earned run in a 3 to 1 win and prior to that win he defeated the Red Sox at Fenway giving up 3 earned runs in a 7 to 6 victory. He has been consistent and we know that Seattle is 7-0 W/L (+7.7) when Hernandez takes the mound in road games after giving up two or fewer earned runs in his last 2 outings the last 2 seasons. Hernandez is also 14-5 W/L (+11.6) in road games when playing against a team with a winning record over the last 3 seasons. The Tigers will counter with Armando Galarraga who is 5-8 W/L on the season with an ERA of 5.09. Galarraga has shown little improvement when starting at home where he is 3-4 W/L with an ERA of 4.97. In his last outing he faced Cleveland and pitched for 6 innings allowing 4 earned runs on 9 hits in a 5 to 4 home loss. Galarraga is 2-10 W/L (-9.7) when playing under the lights this season. Detroit is 26-56 W/L (-25.4) as an underdog of +100 to +150 the last 2 seasons. Significant pitching advantage for Seattle in tonight’s matchup and we also have strong technical support for the visitors as well so lay the chalk with the Mariners as they even this series with the Tigers at Comerica on Wednesday night.

Graded Selection: 2* Seattle Mariners 2 Detroit Tigers 1
